Biographical Layout
I chose to do the biographical layout about one of my favorite actors ever, Aaron Paul, because I feel that he is a superb actor overall and both he and his wife are very charitable; in fact, his wife is the head of an organization called Kind Campaign, which is dedicated to spreading kindness to combat bullying.
This project, obviously, utilized a lot of text manipulation. The text had to be scaled accordingly in order to fit within two columns. To achieve the appearance of a two-page spread, we created a spread. This spread also allowed for a picture to go on the left side, and text and smaller pictures to go on the right side. Appropriate fonts were crucial to this project. For the text on the right spread, the font was required to be one that is legible. A good guideline to follow was that it had to look like a font one would see in a magazine. As for the font of the quote on the left, it had to be a font that reflects the subject of the biographical layout. Script fonts, in my opinion, look the nicest, so I chose a script font. The large letter A had to be a display font. In order to get all the text to fit on one spread, we made two-column text boxes. Wrapping the text around the smaller pictures allowed for a more professional look. One text-wrap option, "wrap around bounding box", does just that: it wraps the text around the bounding box of the picture. Another text-wrap option, "wrap around object shape", wraps text around the picture itself rather than the bounding box. Pictures were essential for this project, so we placed and scaled them where they were needed. We needed to have one small picture, one medium picture, and one large picture, with the small and medium being on the right and the large being on the left (on a page by itself). Special effects in InDesign were used on the pictures. I used the Feather effect on the medium sized picture, and a drop shadow on the text on the left page.
