Disney Cribs Part 1: Cartoon Character: Anna
A large part of the Illustrator portion of this project was using the pen tool. Drawing accurate paths with the pen tool was the key to an accurate character. Closed paths helped to create the shapes you see. Everything that was a different color had to be traced in a different enclosed shape so that they could be filled with solid colors or gradients. I used mainly gradients with only a few solid colors, so I drew certain shapes separately so I could color in that specific shape.
Color was also important to this project because the drawing of our character had to be as accurate to the original picture as possible. Choosing exact colors from the original picture with the eyedropper tool helped achieve this accuracy of color. Template layers in Illustrator are used to trace over pictures (with the pen tool) found on the Internet. We used template layers for this project to trace over the picture of our Disney character, and then we deleted the template layer after the character was finished. An important part of this project was recalling prior pen tool knowledge from GD1. I was able to recall my pen tool knowledge from GD2 last year though because we did multiple pen tool projects last year. In the process, I was able to expand my pen tool knowledge even more. My pen tool projects from last year are still under this website under the first GD2 tab. |
